Global Medical Relief Fund (“GMRF”)

I’m excited about getting more involved with the Global Medical Relief Fund (“GMRF”) founded by Elissa Montanti 17 years ago. The organization provides medical assistance to children severely injured due to war, natural disasters, illness and other circumstances. The children receive free medical care at the Shriners Hospital in Philadelphia and are housed at the Dare to  Dream House on Staten Island. Currently there are five albino children from Tanzania living at the house. They range in age from 6 to 18 and each has lost a limb or part of a limb at the hand of witch doctors, who believe that the body parts of albinos will bring wealth or power. Their body parts are sold on the black market for thousands of dollars. To learn more about GMRF or to make a contribution, visit www.gmrfchildren.org.
